Bio

I started Vitriesse Glass in Vermont in 1983, which has been a successful wholesale/retail business for thirty five years.

I continue to be passionate about glass, and I am strongly influenced by forms in nature, the human body and the imagery of cell structure and DNA. Combine these with the Asian influence, Feng Shui, the acceptance and fascination of energy and its interactive dance as the spirit, and you have the elements I incorporate into each piece.

My blown forms are fluid, sculptural and timeless. My cane vessels are created using an intricate process of blowing, pulling and twisting glass rods or canes with multiple colors entwined. The canes are then joined and shaped into their desired form -- resulting in an exquisite depth and luminescence.

In addition to my vessel forms, I have developed a line of glass beads using a similar process of pulling cane. The canes are cut into beads, polished into brilliant gems. The beads are then assembled with sterling silver &/or gold to create my jewelry line.

I have received many awards and participated in group and solo shows. My work is in permanent and private collections globally.

I now live and work in Brattleboro, Vermont at the Estey Organ Factory in a newly converted Warehouse Space. There are many artists in neighboring spaces and this is my third Studio, I've created, since 1983, and I feel very fortunate, and my new urban existence, is inspiring my work in New and Exciting ways.
